Tanveer Ahmed, the guy fighting for national hood

 In Pakistani administrated Jammu Kashmir (commonly named AJK) Tanveer Ahmed, a British Kashmiri freelancer journalist has sentenced 2 years in jail for taking down Pakistani flag from Maqbool Bhatt square in Dadyal. Maqbool Ahmed Bhatt was a freedom lover who fought for the national independence of Jammu Kashmir. He spent years in both Indian & Pakistani jails & ended up with death penalty by India. Indian authorities even refused to handover his dead body to his family & buried him in Tihar Jail. 

Tanveer Ahmed is a freelancer investigative journalist, social activist and blogger. Years back he conducted a survey to figure out the will of common peoples of AJK regarding their future whether they want to accede to India, Pakistan or want to remain independent. He met with thousands of peoples in ten big cities of AJK to complete this survey. His survey concluded that more then 70% of AJK peoples want to be an independent nation. This report was published in a local newspaper named Daily Mujadla & happened the last peace of  writings published by said newspaper because Pakistani authorities has order immediate ban on the news paper & news paper office was closed same day. 

Three years back he started campaigns “invest for peace” & “Peoples Assembly” and visited all around the AJK for raising public awareness for their own rights. He was also there on hunger strikes twice. 

Jammu Kashmir was an independent state before the birth of India & Pakistan. AJK is also  having a symbolic statehood including his PM,president, national flag etc. As per AJK constitution Pakistani flag can be hosted only for solidarity and it’s have no more importance then showing solidarity. 

Today, Maqbool Bhatt is a symbol of national independence of Jammu Kashmir & a Pakistani flag was hosted at the Maqbool Bhatt’s square in Dadyal which irritated Tanveer Ahmed & he opposed it fiercely. He met with local administration to take down the flag but non responded him properly. Then Tanveer Ahmed decided to sit in hunger strike till death but after 55 hours local administration engaged him in dialogue & promised to take down the Pakistani flags from Maqbool Ahmed Bhatt square with in two days, so he ended his hunger strike. 

After three days administration failed to take down the flag as per their promise then Tanveer Ahmed took the flag down by himself with proper respect in front of Facebook live video. Police came into said square and started humiliating & beating Tanveer Ahmed & ended up with his arrest by dragging him badly. FIR was registered against Tanveer Ahmed along with one of local political activist named Muhammad Safeer charging them with act of traitor & disrespecting Pakistani flag. Muhammad Safeer was charged because he was filming the scene of this event. 

As per them Judiciary humiliated both guys and they publicly argued about the behavior & announced their dissatisfaction about the court behavior. In short, both guys got 2 years sentence in absence of their lawyers. From the date of court judgment Free Tanveer & Safeer committee is on sit in demonstration in same Maqbool Ahmed Bhatt square accusing court for unlawful judgement and pledged to continue their strike until both guys will not be released unconditionally. 

Facts are, hosting Pakistani flag in AJK is not legal & is not a crime to take the flag down. According to the constitution, one has just the right to host Pakistani flag with in AJK just to show Pakistani solidarity with Kashmiri peoples. But these both guys were declared traitors & criminals and sentenced for 2 years. 

It’s time to consider the AJK interim constitution & to stand to exercise it as it should be. At all, Jammu Kashmir is not the India or Pakistan but a separate nation awaiting their future to decide. So, silence is leading the nation to darkness. It’s better to speak up loud for the national right of recognition which is the birth right of Jammu Kashmiri peoples.
